Meatballs with Tomato Sauce and Pasta
Tender beef and veal meatballs simmered in a fresh tomato sauce, served with pasta and grated Parmesan.

Sauté the garlic cloves with the olive oil in a large pot.

Blend the tomatoes with the basil and one garlic clove.

Add half of the tomato sauce to the pot and let it simmer, reserving the other half raw.

Combine the beef, veal, Parmesan, breadcrumbs, egg, and coarse salt in a large bowl.

Knead the mixture, then shape it into evenly sized meatballs.

Cook the meatballs in very hot cooking oil for about 2 minutes, until golden, then drain them.

Add the meatballs to the simmering tomato sauce.

Pour in the reserved half of the raw tomato sauce, add a little basil, and simmer for a few moments.

Cook the pasta in plenty of salted boiling water.

Remove the meatballs, add the pasta and a little Parmesan to the pot of sauce, then toss to combine.

Arrange the pasta on plates, place the meatballs on top, and garnish with grated Parmesan.
